With the whole periodic table at the ceramists’ disposal, techniques for processing and investigations at all material’s scales, and applications that enter into most of today’s advanced technologies, the width of the field of electroceramics is immense. Yet, common roots, background knowledge, and concepts bring electroceramists together and help them grow further through professional encounters. With this in mind, we work to make ICE2007 a meeting that will be a showcase of recent advances, novel applications, and emerging technologies in all the diverse areas that constitute the field, aiming to stimulate the mind, to germinate new ideas, and to increase the understanding in electroceramic matter.
Welcome to ICE2007 !
Nava Setter, Conference Chair
CONFERENCE FOCUS |
The field of electroceramics is driven by applications and the focus of research is on the understanding of the relation between functioning of the ceramic and its fabrication parameters. The ICE will have this same focus - centering on the topics that are common to all sub-fields (ionics, conductors, dielectrics, piezoelectrics, magnetics, etc.) such as phenomena at interfaces and grain boundaries, growth, integration solutions, in-situ characterisation, local testing of properties, bulk and surface properties, etc..

CONFERENCE LOCATION |
Rarely have international scientific conferences been organized in Africa, although accessibility is as good as for any other continent. Conferences bring educational and economical benefits to the locality in which they are held, hence holding a conference in Africa is a way to help its economy. Tanzania, although stricken by poverty, has a strong position in sub-saharan East-Africa as a large, stable, and peaceful democracy. It is a country with a huge potential and with enormous diversity of culture and nature. It is of interest therefore to have the ICE2007 in this country and use this opportunity also for the discovery of some of its fascinating facets. |
